Frequently Asked Questions
How can I ensure that my donation will be going to the NPU?
The funds from this campaign will be donated to the City of Redding to be used for public safety, and specifically, the continuance of the NPU. All donated funds will be applied to the NPU budget.
How much of my donation will go to supporting the NPU?
100% of the donations will be given to the NPU, via the City of Redding. Online donations will incur a 2.2% credit card fee. No other administrative or processing fees are being collected. Advance Redding is providing these services free of charge as a service to the campaign and the community.
I pay taxes, why should I support the campaign?
Due to the failure of tax Measure D last November, the City of Redding is continuing to struggle with its resources for public safety. This campaign is an opportunity for community members to make a direct impact on the resources needed to maintain a minimum level of service from the Redding Police Department.
How did we decide on our campaign goal?
$1.24 million was identified by the City of Redding as necessary to employ the Neighborhood Policing Unit for two years. We believe a successful campaign will provide time for a long term solution to be implemented, and for the growth of other needed resources for Public Safety.
What level of involvement does Bethel have in this campaign?
Bethel has donated $500,000 to kick off the campaign and another $50,000 for direct marketing support, recognizing the importance of a well-funded effort. For more information, please see their letter to the city and other press releases on the Media page.
If I can’t donate, are there any other ways I can help?
You can volunteer your time with various programs established with the City of Redding and RPD, or support the Public Safety Campaign by sharing our campaign with your friends.
Who is collecting the money?
Advance Redding, a public benefit nonprofit, is receiving donations online at www.reddingpublisafety.com, at Cornerstone Community Bank (NPU Fund), or donations can be dropped off at The Redding Civic Auditorium box office. All donations are tax deductible.
